Ali’a Matavao is a rising star in the world of college basketball. A freshman at Brigham Young University (BYU), Ali’a is already making her mark on the court. Prior to her collegiate career, she was a standout player at Liberty High School in Henderson, Nevada.
During her time at Liberty High School, Ali’a demonstrated exceptional skill and leadership on the court. She wore jersey number 22 and was known for her scoring ability. In her senior year, she averaged 17.9 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 2.9 steals per game. Her outstanding performance led her to be named the Gatorade Nevada Girls Basketball Player of the Year.
In addition to her success on the basketball court, Ali’a was also a four-sport varsity athlete at Liberty High School, participating in soccer, track and field, and volleyball. She holds school records in the long jump, 4×100 and 4×200 team relays.
After graduating from Liberty High School, Ali’a took her talents to BYU. As a freshman, she continues to play basketball, now as part of the BYU Cougars women’s basketball team. She wears jersey number 4 and has appeared in 19 games for the Cougars, averaging 4.6 minutes per game.
