Gabrielle Machida is a determined and resilient student-athlete who graduated from Green Valley High School in 2024, where she excelled in both softball and flag football. Gabrielle’s journey to success was not without challenges, but her perseverance and dedication have shaped her into the formidable athlete she is today.

Growing up in Hawai’i, Gabrielle began her athletic career with Hula before being inspired by her brother to pursue softball. However, the COVID-19 pandemic forced her to make a significant move to Las Vegas to continue her sports career. This transition was difficult, as she had to rebuild her life from scratch—new friends, new teams, new coaches, and a new school. Despite these hurdles, Gabrielle’s passion for sports kept her focused, and she quickly adapted to her new environment.

Her high school career was marked by a historic achievement—being part of the first team at Green Valley High School to win a State Championship during her sophomore year. This accomplishment stands as a testament to her hard work and dedication.

After high school, Gabrielle took her talents to Cottey College, a private women’s college in Nevada, Missouri. At Cottey, she continues to balance her academic and athletic pursuits, playing on the flag football team and proudly wearing jersey number 95. Her daily routine involves a rigorous schedule of school, training, football practice, and softball practice, demonstrating her commitment to excelling in both sports.

Gabrielle’s journey has been supported by a strong network of mentors, including Coach Bush, who played a pivotal role in encouraging her to pursue flag football, and Coach Lindstrom, who instilled in her the toughness needed to succeed. Her travel coaches in Las Vegas also contributed significantly to her development as a softball player. Gabrielle’s grandparents have been unwavering in their support, attending every game and practice, no matter the weather, and her brother remains her biggest motivator, pushing her to be the best athlete and person she can be.

Looking ahead, Gabrielle is focused on her future goals, which include graduating from college while continuing to play both sports at the next level. She is determined to make the most of the next four years and to achieve everything she has ever dreamed of.
