Las Vegas, NV — Nestled next to the STRAT Hotel and Casino, across the street from the iconic 50-foot-tall showgirls that welcome locals and visitors to downtown Las Vegas, sits the newest entertainment stop on the Strip: Atomic Golf.

A New Era for Golf

Atomic Golf is not just a golf venue; it’s a “bigger, better, bolder brand of golf entertainment,” according to the venue’s website. The flagship Las Vegas location offers 103 golf bays, six full-service bars, a tap room, and chef-made food spread across four floors. CEO Bobak Mostaghasi described it as “entertainment with golf” at the opening ceremony.

“The idea was bringing people together to have fun,” Mostaghasi explained. “The world is going more into experiential, so when we were looking at the concept and really vetting it, it was, ‘Can we get people to see it as an entertainment venue and not a golf venue?’ I think that’s what we’ve done.”

Before even entering the Atomic Golf facility, one can tell that a lot of love and thought went into crafting the place “where golf comes alive.” A giant statue of the Atomic Golf logo welcomes you into the building made of pillars that look suspiciously like golf tees.

Inside, the excitement continues as guests are greeted with four floors full of fun. A mix of country and pop music plays throughout the building, truly bringing in the energy needed for an “entertainment first” atmosphere. “When you come into the building, you’re going to feel good to be there,” Mostaghasi added.

Immediately to your left is the Astrocade, a sports and entertainment viewing zone with an extra-large screen showing up to eight different programs simultaneously. Colorful, space-themed art adorns every wall in sight, building upon a strong theme. Screens that line the wall showcase a variety of moving art to bring life to the space.

Next to the Astrocade lives the Putting District, a “modernized putting game experience.” The clubs at the Putting District and the ceiling above the game have sensors on them to track where the golf ball goes. A screen inside your putting bay will keep track of your score as you play “holographic” mini golf.

Across the four floors of Atomic Golf are over 100 golf bays with a variety of games that are for golfers and non-golfers alike. You do not need to be a good golfer to have a good time, Mostaghasi assured 8 News Now.

Up on the third floor, The Tap Room and Bar offers locally brewed beers from Art District bars and breweries. One floor up, the fourth floor is home to the Cosmic Lounge, which Mostaghasi said has the feeling of a nightclub and offers a tapas menu.

So, what games are offered at Atomic Golf? Here’s a rundown of some of the games:

  • Xeno Breach: A game for those with a long drive! Aliens have breached your ship and now it’s time to fight back. (Secret tip: If you aim for the gas tanks on either side of the aliens, it will explode!)
  • Star Cast: You’ve crashlanded on an alien planet and are trying to survive. You will be looking and aiming for food, water, or a mystery book to help you keep your crew alive.
  • Warp Ships: A game where you and your team play against another group of players, trying to take out the other team’s ships. Perfect if you have a large group or are just competitive!

Atomic Golf opened on the Las Vegas Strip on March 22, 2024, marking a new era of golf entertainment in the city. Whether you’re a seasoned golfer or a novice, Atomic Golf promises an unforgettable experience.

Atomic Golf may have golf in its name, but the sport is a small part of the entertainment facility that opened its doors last week in downtown Las Vegas. That doesn’t mean it can’t serve as a bridge to those who want to learn more.

“We’re putting clubs into people’s hands for the first time,” said Brian Birckbichler, senior vice president of Atomic Golf Las Vegas. “If 3 percent of the million people that come in through our doors this year say, ‘Hey man, this is pretty cool. I’m going to do it out on the course,’ then golf wins.”

Atomic Golf looks like a traditional driving range on first glance. There are 103 golf bays spread across four floors and a putting district in one corner. Turn the other direction and there are six full-service bars, a tap room and food options. The golf bays come with huge video screens, allowing each shot to translate to a virtual game.

“Every single one of our games doesn’t look and feel ‘golfy,’” Birckbichler said. “You’re still swinging. You’re swinging at a target, but as far as you can see you’re playing a video game.”

There are no golf instructors or lessons offered. The range does have Trackman, allowing every shot to be measured.

“You can see ball speed, apex, rotation, trajectory. You can see all of that on the screen,” Birckbichler said. “But you can also have a hell of a lot of fun doing it at the same time.”

Atomic Golf is located at 1850 South Main St. and linked to The Strat. That partnership will help visitors understand Atomic Golf is much more than a driving range, Birckbichler said. But it will be a launching point for new players.

“Every now and then somebody hits that ball for the first or second time and something goes off it their head, like, ‘I really like this,’” Birckbichler said.
