The inaugural Las Vegas Classic girls high school basketball tournament took center stage from December 27–30, 2024, at Bishop Gorman High School and the Las Vegas Basketball Center. The event offered multiple competitive divisions—Diamond, Platinum, and JV—giving teams of varying skill levels a chance to showcase their talents.

Unlike many tournaments that treat girls’ events as an afterthought, the Las Vegas Classic is dedicated solely to girls’ basketball. Scouts and coaches on-site specialized in the girls’ game, ensuring that every player had a fair chance to shine in front of the right audience. Organizers also kept door fees low to encourage larger crowds, working with local schools to allow students to attend at discounted rates.

Anything For Sports handled extensive media coverage while scouting services like Areacodesbasketball and Global Basketball Scouting were in attendance. College coaches from various programs were also observed looking for potential recruits.

Despite this being the first year, organizers are planning major additions for 2025. For more information or to inquire about next year’s tournament, contact [email protected]

The Las Vegas Classic aims to grow girls’ basketball by keeping costs reasonable, attracting top talent, and delivering a quality competitive experience. With its strong local roots and a supportive community, it’s set to become a go-to event for teams looking to make their mark.

Event Organizer: Lew Roberts

The driving force behind the Las Vegas Classic is Lew Roberts, a Las Vegas native and Bishop Gorman alumnus. Roberts spent 24 years with the Metropolitan Police Department, including time supervising the homicide section. After retiring, he turned his full attention to the sport he loves, serving as an assistant coach for Bishop Gorman’s girls varsity squad, which won the 2024 state championship.
